If you’re looking at saving money on your electrics, opting for LED bulbs could be the best thing that you do. Not only does LED lighting last longer than traditional bulbs, but it burns through less electricity on a daily basis. So, how much could you save if you opt for LED bulbs in your home?
Work It Out Based on Wattage
The great news is that you can check the wattage a bulb will use on the packaging. If you buy traditional bulbs, you will likely use between 4W and 100W. While the 100W bulbs are brighter, they will burn through 100W of electricity per hour! Bet you didn’t think of that, did you?
When you get an LED bulb, you will usually find they run at between 5W and 30W depending on the bulb. Just think about how much you’re instantly saving in usage. That means you have the potential to save hundreds of pounds throughout a month of usage.
That one 100W bulb for 5 hours use in a 30 day month would cost you £1.50 on its own. The 5W bulb would be 7.5p! You’re not only going to use one bulb, either!
Take Off the Cost of the Bulb
You will need to take off the cost of the bulb from your savings. The LED lighting tends to be more expensive than the traditional options. However, you’ll still work out with a major saving. In many cases, you’re only going to spend an extra couple of pounds, so you’ll make up that saving per bulb within a couple of months of use.
Since the bulbs take less time to burn, you’ll also find they last longer and you buy fewer.
