When it comes to electrical installations, a certain amount of wear and tear is unavoidable.

So how can you ensure that your property is in a good state?

That’s where Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) come into play. EICRs are in-depth inspections of a property’s electrical systems and installation – residential or commercial – that aim to identify any defects or deterioration.

With the UK government clamping down on the safety of electrical installations, EICRs are more important than ever. From 1 June 2020, all private landlords must obtain an EICR and supply a copy to the tenant within 28 days of inspection.

EICRs are important for companies, who are legally responsible for the welfare of staff. But they’re also a great idea for new home buyers and investors or developers who are buying properties. An EICR every 5-10 years (dependent upon sector), or whenever a change of occupancy occurs, will ensure everything is safe and functional to protect your investment.

We required supply and install of 8 6ft Fluorescent light fittings in our Remnants area of our Carpet Factory at Holbeck Mills, Chris arrived on site when he had arranged and carried out the work with great expertise. I would certainly Recommend Chris of CRE Electrical Services to all my contacts requiring a Professional Electrician.

As a local businessman I have dealt with and used many local trades’ people over the years. I have therefore come to recognise the value of good customer service and quality of work. I have been very impressed with your level of service and value for money. I will certainly have no hesitation in recommending you to my business contacts, family and friends.

Our business is growing fast and we have to use our time wisely. Chris was very efficient in his work, arrived promptly and got the job done. We have no hesitation in asking him to help us again as he had a good level of customer service and was very amenable. The issue for us is phone lines that have poor reception, an old house with lots of DIY wiring and aerials that have large boxes on the walls and we aren’t sure what they all do! Chris seems to have got the measure of them and as we go round the house we’d be happy to ask his advice again.

The service I received was brilliant, you saved me money as I was going to replace the whole system and you advised me that I could save a lot of money by just upgrading the system. The price given was very competitive and you even managed to get the job done before I went on holiday. I have already recommended you to a friend who wants an alarm and I will definitely use your services in future.

I recently moved into a new house and needed an electrician to renew my fuse box and install some new spotlights. Chris Wilson from CRE Electricians LTD was recommended to do the work. After contacting him and arranging a time to view the house he quickly came back with a quote which I found to be very reasonable. When he came out to do the work he was on time and was very tidy. I would be happy to recommend CRE Electricians LTD to any one else that might need his services.

Chris also provided technical advice on security lighting, which I subsequently followed and asked him to install. Again, I was delighted with the work.I found Chris to be knowledgeable, polite and trustworthy. I will certainly be recommending him to friends, family and colleagues in need of an Electrician.

I decided to replace the old fuse board fitted on behalf of my parent’s home. Chris went to inspect the job and explained both the cost and roughly how long it would take him along with some additional work which my parents decided to have done.  My parents were very pleased with his professionalism and workmanship and would not hesitate to recommend him to others who might require the services of an electrician.

I was very happy with Chris’s work he was prompt to get in touch and estimate the job, both the estimate and work were carried out on a weekend which was very helpful. He charged a fair price for his work which was I felt to a very high standard. I am happy to use his services again and also recommend to friends and family.

Thank you for dealing with my request so prompted. You worked tidily and efficiently and didn’t leave me with any follow up work other than to pay your bill, which I found to be very reasonable. Thank you once again. I would have no hesitation in recommending your services to friends and associates.

Our frequently asked questions…

Yes, There is something called an EICR (Electrical installation Condition Report). This will pick up on any issues that require attention before you purchase, leaving you less likely to be out of pocket at a later date.
The best way to find out if your house needs a rewire is to have an electrician undertake an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report). Also a couple of common signs a house is around that time to start thinking about rewiring. The sockets are mounted in the skirting board. There is a lack of socket outlets throughout the house. An old looking fuse board & signs of DIY, or poor workmanship.
Yes a rewire can be undertaken whilst occupied. The rewire will just take a little longer than if the property was empty. Here at CRE, we have all the grinding equipment with vacuum attachments to save on dust and mess, which is ideal for an occupied rewire. There will still be dust and mess as you can imagine, but with the correct equipment this is considerably less!
Surface mounted rewires save on dust and mess. This is due to not having to cut out lines of plaster in the walls to sink the cables. Surface mounted is not the best option unless options are limited. Surface mounted does not look pleasing on the eye as most of the installation will be in plastic trunking.
When looking for a contractor to undertake the rewire, there’s a few things to look for! Choose a company that is registered with a competent person scheme like NICEIC, Stroma Or NAPIT to name a few. References/reviews are always a great sign of a good contractor. Be weary of a Quotation that’s too cheap or an electrician that can start straight away. Often when somethings sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

As Always, CRE are happy to provide free Quotes & Advice

But be careful – only certified electricians can issue valid EICRs. Unfortunately, the internet is plagued with scammers who promise fast EICRs for low fees.

The best way to avoid this is booking an EICR appointment with an electrical contractor, registered with a competent person scheme – such as NICEIC, NAPIT, Stroma or Elecsa.

At CRE Electricians, we will provide you with a comprehensive check of the fixed wiring of your electrical installations. With a little help from our trained and qualified engineers, you will meet all safety needs and fully comply with the law. Once the EICR is complete, we can provide a free, no obligation quotation for any remedial works required.
